The officers of our organization have decades of funeral service education teaching experience. They take pride in the profession, and they are dedicated to excellence in education and have the highest integrity.

Cody Lopasky

President

Cody Lopasky, MA, CFSP, is the President of Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas, and a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He earned a master’s degree in psychology and history from the University of Houston-Victoria and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas State University. He is also an associate of applied science degree graduate, with honors and distinction, from the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. In the professional realm, he has served in various roles for many organizations, including the American Board of Funeral Service Education, the Texas Funeral Directors Association, the National Museum of Funeral History, the National Associated Colleges of Mortuary Science, and the Texas Funeral Service Commission’s Anatomical Advisory Board. Currently, he serves as the president of the ABFSE.

Donald Cymbor

Officer A-Large

A 2009 graduate of AAMI, Don Cymbor has been President of the school since 2021. Beyond his administrative role, he has been the Accounting instructor for 15 years, and has also taught Embalming, Pathology, Funeral Home Directing, Ethics, Small Business Management, and Color and Cosmetics. Don is a licensed New Jersey Funeral Director and is the manager of his family’s funeral home in Bayonne, NJ. He lives in Westfield, NJ with his wife, Alison, and two daughters, Kate and Maddie.
